Janne Nisonen is one of Finland’s most dynamic and sought-after musicians, celebrated for his versatility as a violinist, chamber musician, concertmaster, and conductor. Known for his elegant interpretations of classical and early Romantic music, he is also a passionate advocate for contemporary works. His performances are infused with vitality and a raw, authentic energy rooted in his family’s deep musical heritage from Kaustinen, a region renowned for its fiddle tradition.

During the season 2025-2026 Nisonen makes his conducting debuts with Sinfonia Lahti and the Tampere Philharmonic, and embarks on a recording project with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. He also returns to lead the Pori Sinfonietta, where he previously served as Chief Conductor from 2016 to 2018.

His acclaimed recordings of Ferdinand Ries’s eight symphonies with the Tapiola Sinfonietta (Ondine) have earned international praise for their "exceptional precision, lively articulation, rhythmic effectiveness, and buoyant lightness" (Helsingin Sanomat, 2024).

Nisonen thrives on collaboration across genres, working with ensembles like Frigg and Sväng to bring orchestral music to new audiences. He is renowned for crafting diverse and surprising concert programs, having served as the artistic planner for the Tapiola Sinfonietta from 2021 to 2025.

He has conducted prestigious orchestras such as the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, and Chamber Orchestra Avanti!. His long-standing partnerships include the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra and Tapiola Sinfonietta, where he has been 1st Concertmaster since 2007.
